Merry Christmas!

Every year, I repost the video of my daughter's solo in church back in '07

because I love it. Hope you enjoy! (I know she hates when I do this, lol, but that's what mothers are for :)

Wreaths Across America 2014

This past Saturday the 13th, Tony and I participated as volunteers in the wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery.

The link to my blogpost about it on my other blog (and the link to the pictures we took)
is  HERE

We unfortunately missed the opening ceremony because the Metro was a mad crush of volunteers heading to the cemetery, and we had to use our phones to take pictures because the entire pack of extra batteries we'd bought were useless :( but it was still an uplifting, moving, awe-inspiring event to be a part of, honoring our nation's fallen heroes.

Autumn pictures

Last year, it occurred to us After fall was over, that we should have taken pictures of the trees in the back as they changed colors. So this year, we're trying to do that.

First pictures were taken Thurs,Sept 25.

And the second set of pictures were taken yesterday and today.

More to come in the days ahead..

Our "Three Amigos"

A friend in Australia refers to her dogs as 'the 3 Amigos', and now that Bo has joined our family, we have our Own 'Three Amigos'

                                        Brownie,Riggo and Bo

It was hilarious this morning when I tried to do my stretches for my back (I hurt my back the end of August)..I normally do them in a room where I can close the door, since I lay on the floor to do them..but all three dogs were napping, so I thought I'd try lying on the floor in the front room.

Is there such a thing as 'too much love'? I think so,LOL, at least it felt that way this morning when as soon as I laid on the floor, I suddenly had the 3 dogs plus one of the cats decided that my actions meant I wanted to play with them...I was literally 'rolling on the floor laughing' while trying to fend off the affections of all of the pets, ha ha.

I gave up and decided to go stretch in a room where I could shut the door!

Bo,Riggo and Brownie

Well ,it's always fun to have pets. and this Used to be My couch, ha ha.

The Summer of the Birds

After our Memorial day cookout, we had just left our canvas chairs folded up and leaning against the wall. The next time we went to get them out, we discovered a bird had made a nest in one of them!
there were 5 eggs in the nest. we left the chair where it was, and blocked it                                        off so that the dogs couldn't get to it.

                                    the eggs hatched

Momma bird fed her hungry youngsters

and the babies hung around just long enough for our cookout on July 5 and                                        6 .. and then on the 6th? they left the nest one by one and flew away :)

                                        Very cool!!

Checking in :)

yikes, haven't posted since Feb!
A lot has happened since then, our trusted Ford Taurus was on it's last legs, so we got a new car :)
and, as the husband says, the monthly Payment to go along with the new car!!
We're both excited, this is a 2013 and that's the Newest car either of us has ever had!

Son Ben and his fiancee Emma got married! ( on our anniversary, so I'll never forget Theirs, lol)Welcome to the family,Emma! so happy for you guys !!

Son Dustin came to visit, and we took No pictures whatsoever, lol.

and, after 7 long years, I Finally (thanks to the best husband in the world :) have a clothesline!!
which may not seem like that much, but I Love the smell of clothes and sheets, etc. after they have hung on the line :) the previous place we lived you couldn't have clotheslines..you never know how much you want something until you can't have it!!

Other than that, I have not been having the greatest time healthwise, I've managed to have 2 pulled leg muscles a month apart, which stinks, because I do a Lot of walking as a nurse, plus this second injury has also meant I won't be able to volunteer at the 2014 Face of America bike ride :(

but aside from the health glitches, life continues to be blessed and we are happy :) Hope all you and yours are the same!

Postcrossing

(Sorry for the long silence, life got busy again! The husband has successfully had his second carpal tunnel surgery and we have had a Lot of winter weather, lol )

Saw this today on the Postcrossing blog

A Special call for postcards

a cool idea and I like it, I'm sending one..what do you want to bet Ana gets a lot more than 50,000 postcards? :)

I love Postcrossing  it's like getting a smile from a stranger in your mailbox whenever you receive a postcard. Check them out if you haven't done so yet, it's really a lot of fun!

Here's a postcard I received just the other day, for you to enjoy
