Just another normal evening here at Chez McClenney, lol.

So the other evening I'm on the computer and I hear Tony start laughing in the other room. When I ask 'what?'he says, 'Um, there's a bird in the house!' So I run into the room and say'there's a bird in the house? how did that happen?'

He replies 'well, I was opening the window to check and see if the storm window was down, and it wasn't..so when I lifted the screen to pull it down, a bird flew in!'

We start running around the house looking for the bird ,which was easy to find because suddenly two cats and two dogs are all heading for the fireplace room, apparently thinking 'oh look..dinner!' One of the cats had the poor bird cornered and Tony grabbed the cat, but not before the cat had gotten a feather, ouch! So then we shoved all the pets into a room and shut the door, and began trying to catch the bird, who kept flying between the huge front window and the top of the fireplace.

Hilarity ensued..Tony was throwing a knotted dishcloth in the bird's direction to try and scare it lower so we could grab it in a towel..until he accidentally threw the dishcloth on top of the chandelier. He asked me for the window squeegee, but couldn't knock the dishcloth down with that, so I ran to get the ladder. He got the dishcloth down and then we moved the ladder over to the front window to where the bird was again...and the bird promptly flew to the other side of the room to the top of the fireplace again! So I began throwing the dishcloth at the bird, to try and drive it back to the ladder side of the room..which it did, but then immediately flew back to the fireplace again. This went on for several minutes, until finally Tony was able to throw the towel over it and pick it up and we let it out the front door.

We were both laughing like idiots this whole time, and Tony said 'well, at least it's always interesting around here!'.

The fence is up!

Tony finished putting the fence up on Friday..it's not totally done we still have some of the temporary fence up at the other end, as the pool guys will need room to work on the pool. but I love the green fence, am so glad Tony picked that color :)

and here you see me using a leaf blower, yay! that was fun :)
I also used the leaf blower on the yard, this was me blowing leaves out of the gutter before we replaced some gutter guards.

We are mostly done with the outside stuff for now, the rest can wait till spring. More to come, as we shift to working on the inside.

Trees

You can really see further back into the woods since Tony cleared out the brush in this area out back, eventually he'll clear more of the brush all across the back yard. (the metal pole sticking up in the middle will have to go,lol) and the stakes are marking where he's going to dig holes to put up the chain link fence.

It was just this past Saturday that I took this pic of some of the trees in the back yard

and they have already gotten so much prettier!

Turned 52 yesterday,woo hoo :)

and, as someone at work pointed out, 52 is a 'full deck'..which is exactly what a friend gave me,lol.

Had family out to the house yesterday for a wonderful dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes cooked by Tony.

here's son Kyle, my uncle Ken, and son Ben

Tony and Ben playing a game with grandson Aiden, while Ben's fiancee Emma reads the paper.

daughter April came out, and also her boyfriend

and Tony's brother and his wife and son

we ended the evening with a game of Trivial Pursuit

A most excellent birthday :)

More house pictures

Here's Riggo in the front room...I think we finally have the furniture about the way we want it there, we've played with some different configurations. and the curtains are temporary, they're from the old house and we seem to be having difficulty agreeing on what color we eventually want for curtains in that room, lol. and here's the other side of the front room..or 'serenity room'..or 'tranquility room' or 'fireplace room'..we seem to have a lot of names for this room!

here's the aquarium that I didn't know I wanted, ha ha, but we got a deal on it right before we moved, and now I love it in the corner of the room

we're starting to put things on the mantlepiece, but the area in front of the fireplace still seems to be a 'catch-all' too

here's the kitchen,I unpacked this room first, which will seem funny to those who know us, since I'm not usually the cook! however, apparently the kitchen has inspired me,lol, because I'm actually the one who cooked the first 'real meal' we had here :)

Tony got a hutch and dining room table from a friend
here's Tony in the 'Redskins room to be'!(kind of seems to be Viking color right now, huh?lol)
and some of the trees are starting to turn, very pretty
well, that's it for now...I'll add more as we get more work done!!

Update on things we're doing around the new house :)

We've been here two weeks yesterday, I didn't have a chance until now (actually, didn't find the box that the camera cord was in,lol, until now)
anyway, before we moved in, Tony painted the two smaller bedrooms

this is the room at the back
and this is how it looks currently (we are going to be putting carpet in these two rooms, but the heat pump guy isn't done putting the duct work in yet, we'll do it after that sometime) it's kind of a catch-all room right now.

this is the front bedroom or 'blue room' as we are calling it

and we are temporarily set up in this room, until Tony can paint the master bedroom at the other side of the house
(we've also bought curtains and curtain rods, just haven't gotten them up yet, either)

this is the master bedroom that we need to paint

and it's also the room where we have the computer set up..Tony took down this weird overhang thing (I think this used to be the 'bar' area in the room, lol)

and here's how it looks now, awaiting some drywall up top, and paint

on the back porch, I pulled the plastic down, and discovered the view is really pretty

the new roof is done, yay!

and more to come.....
